Cine Gear Expo
By Cynthia Kirkeby
May 26, 2008, 14:10 PST

Each year, the Cine Gear Expo brings together the best equipment in film making and puts it on display in Los Angeles, CA so that filmmakers can learn what is available for their craft. It's a must see event for film makers young and old.

The first time I attended the expo, it was going to a toy store for film making. Everything you've ever thought about as a filmmaker was there. Whether it's the latest software for scriptwriting, the coolest new digital cameras, high tech lighting or cams, or the most interesting and useful publications in the industry, they all seem to be at the Cine Gear Expo.

Students are welcome, and I highly encourage you to attend if you are serious about film. At the American Cinematography booth, you may even have a change to talk to one of your favorite icons in the industry. Registration is free if you sign up online before 10 AM PST June 14th.

There are a number of seminars available at the expo, covering such topics as the art of the camera operator, the Arri D-21, ASC Show and tell, and more. These are free, but the seating is limited. Then, there are the Master Classes, which are probably the most reasonably prices industry classes you'll ever find. These include topics such as Cinematography Survival Skills, Lighting, and the Cinematography Aesthetics of Nip/Tuck. Amazingly these master classes range from $45.00 to $75.00.

This expo is highly recommended for anyone interesting in filmmaking and cinematography. Register here.
